Many years ago I can remember only the one type of Coat Hat Rack that was available and that was the metal type of hook that was nailed to the wall.  Looking back this was perhaps one of the most basic looking hooks out but hey it did serve a purpose and that was for somewhere to hang your coat, hat, scarves and any other outer clothing.
